Who We Are: LicensArt.com
is owned and operated by Enlightened Licensing, LLC, a novel web-based licensing
agency dedicated to matching visual artists (graphic designers,
illustrators, painters, photographers, etc.) with companies interested in
finding new sources of artwork for use in connection with their
products or services. (Examples of companies that routinely look for
new artwork to feature on their products include greeting card
companies, poster and print makers and home décor companies
to
name just a few). With over 15 years of combined experience in the licensing industry and in the product development and sourcing arenas, our team is extremely well positioned to leverage our industry knowledge, experience and contacts to market to and match our member artists with the most suitable licensees and to negotiate the most favorable royalty rates and other significant deal terms.
What We Do: Once
we find a company interested in the work of one of our member
artists, we negotiate a proposed license agreement between the artist
and the company, the terms of which are always subject to the
artist’s ultimate approval. If the artist approves the
negotiated
terms and enters into a license agreement with the company, the
company will be entitled to use and reproduce the artist’s
work on
or in connection with certain of the company’s products or
services. In exchange, the company will be required to pay the
artist either a flat “license
fee” or a
royalty (that is, a percentage of the company’s sales) on all
products sold (or services rendered) that feature or
utilize the artist’s work.
For
our services, we retain a percentage of the license fee or royalty as
our commission.
Why We're Different: We
are unique in that artists may register with us and freely display
their artwork on LicensArt.com without any obligation to use us as
their licensing agent, up until such time as the artist approves and
signs a license agreement we present to him/her for consideration.
Thus, unlike traditional licensing agencies, we commit ourselves to
proving our value to the artist before asking the artist to commit to
us.
